Envy

Confession. I know what I want my photographs to look like, but getting them to look that way is a different story. So many of the photography blogs I follow/stalk have a certain look that I'm striving create, but have yet to figure out their secret. They must all be in a secret photography society ;)  I'm finally figuring out how to use Lightroom and Photoshop to help me on a lot of these techniques, but so much of it requires a great image to start with. How can I get my whites to pop without exposing to much and losing definition? How do you make sure the lines of your subject are crisp, clean and focused clearly? Is it the equipment? Most likely it's the person behind the lens. I'm trying to curb my jealousy, but Man! How do that do that? I realize I need to focus on me and developing my own techniques and the rest will come. It's hard though when you're surrounding yourself with amazing photographs and hope and pray that yours will one day look like theirs. Time to practice, practice, practice and maybe one day someone will say the same about my photographs. Here's to hoping, doing and keeping focused on the path ahead!

  1. Laura...as a stalker of your blog (remember me from photography class??) I have to tell you that I absolutely ADORE your photos...the way you share a story with just a gorgeous photo here and a simple photo there...I envy it! Your photos are beautiful, bright and crisp. You excel in simplicity where I can't ever seem to stop and tend to over think & do everything. I don't think you have a thing to worry about!
