Art to Wear

While I was getting my hair cut a few weeks ago, my stylist, Jen, mentioned that after she was finished with me, she had a meeting with an NC State design student to prepare for the upcoming Art to Wear fashion show. Intrigued by a potential photo opportunity, I asked a few questions and we figured out a way that I could come by the studio while the models were getting ready. Needless to say I was SUPER excited for a chance to try out some fashion photography. Unfortunately the day of, I couldn't quite get out of work and by the time I arrived at the studio, the models had dressed and gone on to the show. Drat. I was pretty bummed, but not deterred. I grabbed a Qdoba burrito (since I knew it would be my only chance to eat anything) and headed to Reynolds Coliseum for the show. I tried to talk my way down onto the floor to get close to the runway, but all the photographer spots were full, so the director mentioned I could get a Premium ticket and get in the stands right beside the runway instead. The seat actually turned out to be a great view since I was closer to eye level with the models.

At 7:30 the show started and I was blown away by the talent of the designers. They weren't all necessarily fashion designers, some were in the architecture school and others in culinary school (as evidenced by the Nati Light, Starbucks, Pizza, Jimmy Johns and Bojangles designs below). I had a great time at my first fashion show and know it definitely won't be my last. Here are some of my favorite photos from the show.
