Things I Love

Downton Abbey, PBS & Vanity Fair
LOVE this show. The furnishings, the clothes, the etiquette, the love triangles, the secrets - I can't soak it all in quickly enough. Unfortunately, I was late to the party on this one, but thanks PBS.com, I was able to watch full episodes from Season 1. I had my own Downton Abbey marathon to catch up, but now that Season 2 is over, I'm left to count down the days till it's return. In the meantime, I'm enjoying Vanity Fair's recaps and hilarious trading cards... yes, trading cards.

Siri & the iPhone 4s
While I haven't figured out any legitimate questions to ask Siri, I have had a lot of fun asking her important things such as, What's your favorite color? Is there a God? I love you. Will you marry me? And of course, where do you hide a body? Don't worry, I haven't taken to a life a crime, but apparently, these are all the questions one should ask her. Who knew!? Her responses are hilarious and a great way to waste time... as if I needed another...

Buying Local
Our neighborhood is a great mixture of Old Raleigh, artists, architects, hipsters, preps, and transplants. Even with all our different interests, you can find most of us gathering at our local Famer's Market (open Saturdays in April through November) by Boylan Bridge, where you can sample Muddy Dog Coffee (the Ethiopian blend is my favorite), grab a bite to eat at a Food Truck, drink a beer brewed by local brewery, Fullsteam, pick up some homemade cashew butter, and decorate your home with a City Fabric print of Raleigh.

Dodo
Not the bird (though I am a fan), but the iPad case. I love that it's not obvious that you're toting around an iPad, while also making sense functionally... and it's pretty handsome looking in orange.

Family Portrait with Harvey, aka "The Monster"
He starts out sweet, but soon his inner monster appears.
Luckily, the sweetness returns soon thereafter.

Things I Love...

Where has the time gone? My goal of blogging 2-3 times a week has quickly deteriorated to once a week (if I'm lucky). Well, it's time to get back on the wagon, starting.... now!

Things have been hectic around the Simson household and yet if you asked me what's been going on, I wouldn't be able to pin point it.... it seems to be a mixture of crazy work schedules, new car hunting/buying (yay!), trips with friends, trips with family, birthday celebrating, photography classes, and a never ending mountain of laundry.

I've missed the blog, so it seems like the perfect time for another installment of Things I Love.

Nothing says "it's time to enjoy the warm summer's nights while keeping the bugs away" like a tiki torch. In addition to being festive, they're also practical. Love.

I grew up a beach vacation girl, but recently am slowly warming up to the idea of lake vacations. The tranquility on the water can't be beat.
I recently became the owner of a brand new car. I've never had a "new" car before, so it feels like a pretty big milestone. I'm going to miss "Max," we've been through a lot of amazing trips together, but the "new guy" (have not yet named him) is filling in quite nicely.

the SHOOTSAC. Love Love Love this bag. I was using a backpack during shoots, but I could never seem to master swinging it around to change lenses in between takes and it kind of made me feel like a second grader. I'd always end up setting it down, changing lenses, and inevitably leave it there until we changed locations - meaning I was running back and forth. Not ideal. The SHOOTSAC changed everything since all my gear was right at my hip. No more running around, no more sweaty back from the backpack (sorry, that was probably too much info), it's all right there! Next up will be to upgrade the flap to a lovely pattern, but for now, black will do!

Happy Monday!

Things I Love...

Hand Cream
Don't leave home without it. It's part of my winter survival kit, which includes a hat, gloves, pashmina and Burt's Bees lip balm.

Peppermint Hot Chocolate
Sometimes I order them in the spring and summer time because they're so delicious.

Power Bars
I'm never without them and have them hidden all over the place - car, purses, bedroom, office, kitchen (obviously) - just in case a hunger attack strikes. My current go to's are the Zone Fudge Graham and Luna Chocolate Peppermint. Yum.

Electric Blankets

Helps keep the electric & gas bill downs, plus Harvey loves them too.

Keurig Coffee Maker
Delicious and under a minute to brew. This is key when I'm running late, but need a little jolt to get me through the day.
And as if the Keurig wasn't enough! My mom found this handy dandy travel mug by the Food Network that's dishwasher safe. I'm in coffee/tea heaven...

Happy Sunday!
